Monday marked the 15th and final stop on the Virginia Proud Weather Tour.
Jeff visited the Hillsville Fire Department in Carroll County.  The county has three volunteer fire departments and four rescue squads.  The Hillsville Fire Department serves about 450 calls per year.  Everett Lineberry, the emergency services director for the county, talked about Interstate 77 in Fancy Gap. He discussed how when significant crashes happen on that stretch of road, the county has to sometimes rely on neighboring counties to bring mutual aid.  Lineberry said in the last 18 months, the Virginia Department of Transportation has worked to make significant improvements in safety on the stretch of road.  After traveling more than 1,550 miles, the 2017 Virginia Proud Weather Tour wrapped up after visiting 15 communities and honoring the fire and emergency medical service workers who serve their communities.
