Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department Responds To
Vehicle Fire I-77 at Exit 19
On Saturday May 1st, traffic on Interstate I-77 South Bound at the 19 mile marker was quickly put to a stop as firefighters fought a fire that apparently started in a short in the electrical system of this SUV Truck. When the Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene the vehicle was already fully involved in flames and was told by the driver John G. Currey of Jacksonville Fl. had just filled up the SUV with Gas, with those concerns the fire fighters knocked the fire down in minutes and had the fire out. Laurel Volunteer Rescue responded with the fire department, there were no injuries and the driver got out safe.
