July 28, 2010
On July 28, 2010, starting around 10:30 AM a N.C. Man driving on 52 South hit a tree after going off the left side of the road just out of the city limits of Hillsville. The Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene alone with the Carroll EMS, the man was flown out via Helicopter. ( no pictures on this accident I was out of the area, also found out later that it was a fatality )

Second accident was on I-77 North at MM-23 AROUND 2:00 PM A Michigan man was driving  north on I-77 when he lost control of his F-250 Ford and trailer. Trying to regain control caused him to come loose from the trailer which was caring a Mustang Ford and sending the pickup over the guard rail and into the South bound traffic of the interstate. The Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department had to use the Jaws of Life to cut the drivers door away to let EMS gain access to him. The helicopter had to land on the South side above the accident to load and go, traffic was halted both ways for about twenty minutes.  The Virginia State Police investigated the accident.
