Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department Responds To
Motor Vehicle Accident on Buckwoods Road

Today at approximately 2:08 p.m. the Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department along with Laurel Rescue Squad, and Law Enforcement from the Carroll County Sheriff Office and Virginia State Police responded to a motor vehicle accident at 4825 Buckwoods Road in the Laurel Section of Carroll County. While the Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department was enroute to help they were notified by Carroll County Sheriff Office Deputies to use caution concerning a domestic situation between parties involved. When members arrived on scene they found that a 2002 Gray Dodge Durango driven by a Joy Nicole Lawrence of Galax had ran off the road and struck a house. Witnesses stated that another vehicle was following her at the time of the accident. Thankfully there was no one inside the residence at the time of the accident. The house sustained severe damage to the walls as well as its foundation. The Virginia State Police Handled the investigation of the accident.
