Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department Responds to a Motor Vehicle Accident On Carrollton Pike
Around 10:05 PM, On September 10, 2009, the Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a auto accident with entrapment and injuries. A Ohio man driving a Equinox vehicle attempted to cross the West Bound Lanes of Carrollton Pike in front of Wendy's and struck a Black Escort heading West on Carrollton Pike causing both vehicles to end up in the medium. The Escort had the whole front end demolished , the two in the car received serious injuries and had to be flown out by Life Guard 10 & 11, the Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department extricated the patients out of the vehicle but removing the roof of the vehicle, both were transported by Ambulance to the nearby Carroll County Recreation Ball Field to the landing zone set up by the Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department. Then Life Guard 10 Helicopter flew in for the passenger of the Equinox, the Virginia State Police handled the investigation of the accident.
